Change is hard, ask anyone who has tried to switch careers, develop a new skill, improve a relationship, or break a bad habit. And yet for most people change will at some point be necessary—a critical step toward fulfilling their potential and achieving their goals, both at work and at home. They will need support with this process. They’ll need a coach.

That’s where I come in. Whether you’re a boss or a colleague, a friend or a spouse, introverted or extroverted, emotional or analytic, or high or low on the totem pole, you can learn how to facilitate life-enhancing change in those around you.

What is the role of a coach?

A good coach helps you in this process, check the syntax of the phrase "help", we are not talking about "advise, suggest, direct or push". The task of a professional coach is not to tell people what to do, but to listen openly and full of compassion and also to explore the person's vision, in order to build a solid relationship of trust. My job as a coach is to assist you in making that change and optimizing it. That is, to discover the opportunity for this learning potential.

It doesn't matter how big your challenge is, from the smallest one, such as 'I want to interact differently with others', to big changes such as, 'I am not satisfied with my career'.

So how does it work?

By discovering opportunities! Human beings know they need to change speeds at some point in their lives, they know the change is evident. Whether you have been promoted in your job, or chosen to lead a specific project, etc. Other times it is the same experience that is the trigger, you have lost your job, you have received an alarming medical diagnosis or situations like, you are about to turn a major age, which for you is decisive.

In all these cases, it may be that people have a vague idea that things are not as they have imagined them.

What's the next step?:

Lay the foundation

Just like when you build a house, you need to have a solid foundation first. This foundation means having a healthy physical and psychological balance, to activate an optimal mentality. And because it is not always easy to achieve this balance, together with your coach and as a team, we can achieve a 'team resonance' together. This resonance occurs through an empathic dialogue, where we explore your perspective on things, until we shape your vision and focus on it.

The benefit of having a coach is that you focus on a vision without distractions, as most people concentrate on everything around the goal or vision and lose track of their path. In other words, we tend to do the exact opposite of what we want to achieve!

During the coaching process, we explore possible solutions and evaluate the resonance of the project or the decision to be made. All of this, with an emphasis on personal dreams and not on external goals and challenges. In numerous studies, it has been proven that the individual achieves his or her work goals through positive emotions evoked by the person and seen as "inspiring and loving".

The results seen in neural images show that this method activates areas of the brain associated with openness to new ideas, changes and learning.

Let's take an illustrative example

We say you were given a management position; you jump for joy at the promotion, but you feel you're not ready for this challenge. You begin to feel anxiety and stress without knowing exactly why, because in reality you know you were promoted because you are capable of doing so.

Now, you can consider these options. You can approach the issue by concentrating only on advancing your career, without considering your personal vision or, you can focus on visualizing a positive future, which will make you feel happier, more satisfied and therefore your aspirations and motivation will be higher even than the proposed goals, that is, you will take the challenge of your new position with joy and full of motivation.

Coaching, both personal and for business, offers you the most sustainable solutions and tools during a process of change, stress, loss or life change. The key to coaching is that you have the solution within yourself, maybe not clear solutions, coaching helps you clarify and realize the new path to follow.
